Launch One Site at a Time

Once you’ve figured out which sites are actually worth building, there’s a separate discipline to keep: launch only one in earnest at a time.

The temptation is real: if I already know I want both the garden and the workshop, why not build them in parallel? The answer is that a single person’s attention is a scarce resource. Two half-built sites hanging around, neither of them taking root, is far worse than one mature site plus one that hasn’t even started. Nothing drains your morale like a project stuck at the halfway mark.

So my order is: get the garden to the point where I can tend it reliably, then launch the workshop. Each site has to clear the bar of “has real content and can sustain itself” before I let myself open the next one.

This is really the same principle as tend only one spot in earnest each week, just applied at the scale of building sites: better to go slow than to run several projects in parallel and leave them all unfinished.
