One Piece of Content, One Home
Certainty: The routing rules I set here are set, but still being lived out
With three sites up, my biggest worry isn’t running out of things to say—it’s writing the same thing in two places. The SEO dilutes itself, and readers are left wondering which version they’re actually supposed to read. So I set myself a content routing rule: every kind of content gets exactly one “home.”
- Process, drafts, raw ideas → the Garden (here)
- Finished, citable work → the Storefront (the canonical copy; everywhere else just links back)
- Things I’ve built, plus their data → the Workshop
- Small tools you can use right away → the Toolroom
Across sites I only link, never relocate. When a note in the Garden ripens into a finished article on the Storefront, this note gets a banner at the top—“This has grown into a finished piece, see the Storefront”—that points over to it, instead of two copies sitting in two places.
The deeper reason behind this rule is of a piece with why there are three sites: the sites can only stay separate if the content stays separate too. The operational details live in the gardening principles.
